TAD 3 High Performance Weight Processor

The TAD 3 Weight Processor converts signals from strain gauge based load cells and force transducers for use with PC or PLC based systems. Flow measurement and recipe controlled batching are available as options. It can be used to control automatic systems, operating pumps, valves, agitators, etc. as well as semi-automatic and manual systems; high accuracy (A/D resolution of nearly 14 million counts) and fast transmission rate make it ideally suited to advanced process control applications

Options available include the DIN rail mounted units ANA 3 and DIO 3R. The ANA 3 Analogue Output Module provides a bipolar voltage or current output. The DIO 3R Digital Input and Output Module provides 8 inputs, 8 outputs and a serial comms port.

The new Batchview software package facilitates monitoring and the basic controls of the TAD from a computer. Set points can be changed and a batch initiated from the PC while the actual sequences and control functions are embedded in the TAD 3.

AST 3 Weight Transmitters


AST 3P

The AST 3P is a DIN rail mounted compact high performance transmitter designed for applications with strain gauge based transducers; the output from which it converts into a very stable signal suitable for PC or PLC based control systems. It has at its heart a unique Nobel patented completely digital A/D converter to provide accurate, stable and rapid response measurement information. The AST 3P is used where a local display is needed for set up or displaying data. Set up and calibration can be carried out either from the front panel or via a PC running deltaCOM. The full (optional) version of deltaCOM allows the set-up data to be stored in the host computer and downloaded in case of replacement of the AST 3P.

The unique design of the AST 3 IS allows direct connection of up to 6 transducers (350 ohms each) in hazardous areas without the need for additional zener barriers. Using Vishay Nobel's patented A/D converter, the I.S. version features similar performance, output and communications capabilities to the AST 3P.

GATE 3S Fieldbus Convertor

The GATE 3S is a communication link for transferring weight, force or servo data over external networks (fieldbuses) to PCs or PLCs.
The standard GATE 3S connects to PROFIBUS-DP, the most widely used fieldbus, however optional versions are available for DeviceNet, Ethernet, Modbus-TCP, ControlNet, INTERBUS, Modbus Plus and CANopen.

The GATE 3S display is used for set-up and to monitor data such as weight, set values and positions. It also indicates the status of the transmissions.

WIN 3 Weight Indicator


WIN 3 weight indicator

The WIN 3 is housed in a rigid IP65 stainless steel case. Gross weight, net weight and tare can be accessed via the front panel while the remaining keys are used for simple set up and calibration of the instrument. Three different levels can be monitored; each of which can be programmed to monitor gross, net or displayed weight. Pre-set level values can be shown at any time. Analogue output options are 0-10V, 0-20mA or 4-20mA. Digital communication is via a RS232 or RS485 interface.

DeltaCOM Set-up and Calibration Software

DeltaCOM is a valuable tool for local or remote monitoring, configuration and servicing of Vishay Nobel's Generation 3 range of instrumentation. It works under Windows 95/98/2000/NT4.

Custom Displays and Peripherals


While most of our weight processing equipment features an integral display, sometimes our customers want something more, such as a large ceiling mounted bright LED display or one which can be located remotely from the instrumentation, for example, in a hazardous area or outdoors.
We can supply a comprehensive range of additional equipment such as displays, terminals, printers and chart recorders to interface with our instrumentation for use in the type of locations in which our equipment is likely to be installed.

Display variations we supply include digital, analogue, intrinsically safe -for hazardous area use, environmentally sealed to withstand industrial application or outdoor use, mains or battery powered, LED, LCD and programmable or "smart".
Examples of specialist displays we have supplied in the past include sealed portable units for use at sea, large bright LED displays for "public address" use on a shop floor and sealed I.S. terminals mounted on stainless supports such that the whole unit can be washed down for use in food processing.
